Lomography | Life Through the Fisheye

Through a fisheye lens you can get wonderfully distorted and a genuinely unusual perspective… I swear even a shot of the inside of a toilet bowl would look interesting. Our friend and White Rails Jewellery designer, Anna Norriss, took some beautiful beach shots with a fisheye lens while on vacation in Bali.  After looking at these shots you’ll have some serious vacation-envy… I know I did.

CMYK Diana F+ Edition

Nicknamed the ‘Smeek’, the camera is based on the Diana+ which recreated the classic 1960s Lomography camera. ‘Lomo’ cameras have gained cult status in recent years thanks to their ‘imperfectly perfect’ images, which are typically colour-drenched, low-fi and with unpredictable contrast, giving retro, authentic feel that’s been trendy in the last few years.

The Diana F+ adde a retro-styled flash; the ‘Smeek’ is based on the Diana F+ but adds CMYK-coloured panels in tribute to print designers.

All you hipsters out there this camera is for you… or would make a great Christmas gift!

Available now at L’Usine.

L’Usine Feature | Lomography Interview

Lomography is casual snapshot photography.  It is over-saturated colours, blurring and eye catching distortions.  We’re absolutely facinated with Lomography.  So, we caught up with Justin Tsui, Lomography Asia’s marketing coordinator,  to tell us the scoop on Lomography.

L’USINE: Lomography is quite new to the Vietnamese market; can you tell us a little bit about the history of Lomography?

LOMO: It began with a fateful encounter in the early 1990s, when two students in Vienna, Austria, stumbled upon the Lomo Kompakt Automat – a small, enigmatic Russian camera. Mindlessly taking shots from the hip, and sometimes looking through the viewfinder, they were astounded with the mindblowing photos that it produced – the colours were vibrant, with deep saturation and vignettes that framed the shot – it was nothing like they had seen before! Upon returning home, friends wanted their own Lomo LC-A, igniting a new style of artistic experimental photography that we now know as Lomography!
